Gladys A. Vance

Gladys A. (Bunny) Vance of Green Bank passed away from this life on Tuesday Aug. 6, 2013, at Ruby Memorial Hosiptal in Morgantown, after a long illness. She was born in Bartow on June 19, 1936 to the late Reed and Gladys Carroll Turner.

She is survived by the following; Bobby Vance, husband, of Green Bank, daughters: Roberta Vance of Morgantown, Susan Vance and husband, Steve Stafford of Westernport Md. and a loved exquisite young lady Elizabeth Cross of Keyser, Stepmother: Velma Turner of Arbovale, half-brother: Jerry (Linda) Turner of Marlington, and David (Sandy) Turner, of Manassas Va., several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bunny graduted from Green Bank High School in 1954; Davis Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1957 and married Bob in December 1957. They celebrated 55 years of wonderful marriage this past Dec. with their immediate family.

Bunny loved being a registered nurse and teacher. She worked at Vincent Palotti Hosiptal, Denmar State Hospital, Randolph County Home Health and several physicians.

In 1970, she was employed as instructor for the Health Occupations class at Pocahontas County High School until retirement in 1988. She taught the first EMT class at Green Bank. During this time, she earned a master’s degree from Marshall University. Bunny was a member of the Arboval Untied Methodist Church, social and professional organizations. She loved to travel, seeking new ideas and knowledge. She loved sewing and was an avid reader of books and enjoyed sharing stories and recipes, new and old with everyone.

Funeral services will be Saturday Aug. 10, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the Arboval United Methodist Church with Rev. David Fuller and Rev. Gary Phillips officiating interment is to follow at the Arbovale Cementary.

The family will receive their family and friends on Friday Aug. 9, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale.
