Robert Lee McIe

Robert Lee McIe, 74, two-year resident of Holbrook Nursing Home, and formerly of the Rock Cave community, died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Buckhannon. He was born on March 31, 1939, in Diana, a son of the late Thomas Franklin and Elsie Eliza Currence McIe.

Surviving are one son, Jim, and wife, Kathy McIe, of Volga and one stepdaughter Cynthia Cool Miller of Buckhannon; four brothers, Leonard and wife, Dorthie, of the Alexander Road; Ronald and wife, Kay, of Lodi, Ohio; Raymond and wife, Barbara, of French Creek; and Russell and wife, Mary Anne, of the Cutright Chapel Road.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Levada Croucher, Bula Howard, Bessie Browning and infant Lena May McIe; and three brothers, Lonnie McIe, and infants Junior and James McIe.

Mr. McIe worked in the logging business beginning at an early age and logged the “old-fashioned way” with horses. Before going to Holbrook’s, he enjoyed visiting with friends and community members at the Rock Cave Diner, Kay’s Diner, and sitting in his truck at the Y in Rock Cave. He enjoyed joking around with folks, no matter friend or stranger. After visiting with folks for a while, he usually found a “connection” with them. He was a Christian by faith.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at the Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Robert F. Heavner officiating. Interment will follow in the Bennett Cemetery at Kanawha Head.
