Anthony David Lambruno, 95, of Douglas, passed away Sept. 21, 2013, at Cortland Acres.
He was born Dec. 9, 1917, in Albert, a son of the late Nicola Lambruno and Maria D’Amato Lambruno.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Davis Lambruno in 2007; five sisters, Emma Cianfaglione, Julia Balassone, Corinne Warde, Anna O’Dell and Concetta “Chris” Lahey; two brothers, Dominick Lambruno and Loupie Lambruno; and one grandchild.
He is survived by one stepson, Arlie C. (Kathryn) Davis, Parsons; one daughter, Karen N. (Gene) Bishop, Marion, Ohio; two special nephews, Jack (Emily) Lambruno, Thomas, and Joe (Mary) Balassone, Keyser; one sister, Lillian Boccardi, Marietta, Ga.; eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Mr. Lambruno worked as a coal miner for Douglas Coal Company. He was the youngest of nine siblings in his family. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He was also a member of UMWA. He was an avid gardener and a lifelong resident of Douglas.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hinkle Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Father Timothy Grassi as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Cortland Foundation, 39 Cortland Acres Lane, Thomas, WV 26292.
