Ira Robert Skolnick, 63, of Route 20, South Road, Rock Cave, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, in Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg.
He was born Dec. 23, 1949, in Queens, N.Y., a son of the late Bernard and Thelma Sussman Skolnick.
He is survived by three daughters, Dana Hayton and husband, John, of Parkersburg, Kari Wilson and husband, Andy, of Ashland, Ky., and Emily Skolnick of Parkersburg; seven grandchildren, Olivia, Anna and Bradley Hayton, Spencer, Brody and Parker Wilson, and Logan Cain; sister, Mona Skolnick Nardone of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sister, Nancy Guthrie, and niece, Hannah Guthrie, of Rock Cave; brother Joe Taylor; and nephews Michael, Bryan and Joey Nardone.
He was preceded in death by one brother, A.B. “Bud” Guthrie.
Mr. Skolnick was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a retired registered nurse having worked at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg and Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston. He was part owner of Rock Cave Camo.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in the West Virginia National Cemetery at Pruntytown.
