Joyce Hathaway, 75, of Economy Boro, Pa., left her worldly home for her eternal home to be with her Lord on Friday, Sept. 13, 2013, after a courageous but short battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born April 14, 1938, at Belington, a daughter of the late Edwin and Opal Golden.
An avid homemaker all her life, she also worked as a secretary with her family’s various businesses.
She was a member of Coraopolis Church of Christ and also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Boy Scout Troop 699. She loved to read and listen to country music. She also loved camping, crossword puzzles and her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Susan Melissa, in 1960; and her son, Timothy Mark, in 2008.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Donald Hathaway, whom she married on Nov. 7, 1953; her sons, Duane Hathaway of Belington, Michael Hathaway of Darlington Township, Pa., and Sean Hathaway of Butler, Pa.; daughters-in-law, Debbie Hathaway of New Secwickley Township, Pa., and Lisa Hathaway of Beaver Falls, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the Kasper-Hahn Funeral & Cremation Services Inc. 547 Eighth St., Ambridge, Pa.; on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Michael Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in the Fraternal Cemetery at Belington.
