Mary Weese

Mary Jean Weese, 69, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Thursday evening, September 12, 2013, in the Hospice Care Inpatient Unit in Elkins.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rick Price officiating. Interment will follow in the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery near Cravensdale.

Mary Weese

Mary Jean Weese, 69, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Thursday evening, Sept. 12, 2013, in Hospice Care Inpatient Unit in Elkins. She had been in declining health.

She was born Nov. 23, 1943, in Elkins, a daughter of Annie C. Ours Bennett of Elkins and the late Ulyses S. Grant Sr.

On Dec. 26, 1963, she was married to Ronald John Weese, who survives. They had celebrated 49 years of marriage.

Also surviving are one daughter, Ronda Carr and husband, Les, of Elkins; one son, Ronald Guy Weese and wife, Julie, of Elkins; three granddaughters, Tiffany L. Carr, Courtney B. Weese and fiance, Ben Phillips, and Alexia Weese; and one great-grandson, Carson Phillips all of Elkins. Three brothers, Jerry Bennett and wife, Glenda, and Grant Jr. Bennett and wife, Judy, all of Ohio and David Bennett of Elkins; two sisters, May White of Elkins and Mildred Ruth McCoy and husband, Ronald, of Elkins also survive. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Wheaties, and her cat, Kitty.

Also preceding her in death were six brothers, Charles, Howard, Harry, Carol, Jessie and Paul Bennett; and two sisters, Marie Miles and Irene Bennett.

She was a former employee at Nella’s Nursing Home in Crystal Springs and, at the time of her death, was an employee of Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
