Rudolph Joseph “Rudy” Canale, 89, a resident of Norton, departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins.

The family received friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins Friday. Friday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home, a wake service was recited by the Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs V.F. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home today at 2 p.m. by the Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs V.F. Interment will follow in Saint Brendan Cemetery, where the West Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard, H.W. Daniel’s Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars will conduct full military rites.

On Saturday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home, a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. by the Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs V.F. Interment will follow in Saint Brendan Cemetery.

Rudolph Joseph “Rudy” Canale, 89, a resident of Norton, departed this life Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center at Elkins.

He was born Tuesday, Oct. 30, 1923, in New York City, N.Y., a son of the late Carlo and Eliva Ferrando Canale.

In June of 1953, at New York, he was married to the former Enis Chichetelli, who preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Ann Marie Canale of Daytona, Fla.; one brother, Frank Canale of Scarsdale, N.Y.; and four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was one daughter, Caroline.

He attended the schools of New York. He was a former New York City police officer for 23 years.
