Wilmer Lewis Byers, 82, of Durbin, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2013, at his home in Durbin.
Born Nov. 14, 1930, at Aliquippa, Pa., he was a son of the late Dewey Washington and Mildred Alzarado Oaks Byers.
He was retired from the U.S. Air Force, serving in both Korea and Vietnam, with more than 28 years of service. He also retired from Bonnieville Electric Co. in Seattle, Wash.
He attended Hebron Baptist Church at Green Bank and was a member of the American Legion, Durbin Lion’s Club and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his adopted son, Charles Phillip “Tommy” Mallow Jr. of Arbovale; sisters, Betty Zarnich of Aliquippa, Pa., and Jo Ann Simineti of Coraopolis, Pa.; and brothers, Donald Byers of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Arthur V. Byers (Constance) of Aliquippa, Pa. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with the Rev. Tom Roberts and the Rev. Paul Arbogast officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Stoney Town Cemetery, Stoney Town, Pa., at a later date. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Arbovale.
