Woodrow J. Neal

Woodrow Junior Neal, 77, of Route 4, Philippi, died Monday evening, Sept. 2, 2013, in the Broaddus Hospital, following an extended illness.

He was born Oct.29, 1935, in New Bethlehem, Penn., a son of the late Woodrow Turney and Willovene Marie (Bussard) Neal.

Survivors include his wife, the former Donna A. Delauder, who survives at their home; two sons, Ronald Neal, Philippi, Russell Neal and wife, Sherry, Chesapeake, Va.; three grandchildren, Samantha Straughn, Justin Matthews, Ryan Matthews and wife, Elizabeth; a great granddaughter, Ava Lee Matthews; one sister, LaRue Keener, Philippi.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Sherman Neal and Stanley Boyd Neal.

Mr. Neal was retired as an equipment operator for King Knob Coal Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Little Bethel Baptist Church, the United Mine Workers of America, American Legion Post No. 200 and a life member of Laurel Mountain Post No. 410, V.F.W.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today from the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 South Main Street, Philippi, with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating.

Interment will follow in the Little Bethel Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Barbour Post No. 44, American Legion and representatives of the U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9- 11 a.m., the funeral hour today.
