Franklin Lee “Half-Pint” Mace, 58, a resident of Norton, passed from this life Saturday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2013, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.
Franklin was born Tuesday, April 26, 1955, in Elkins, a son of the late Frank Hinzman and Zelma Jean Mace Strawder. At age 3, Franklin was adopted by his late maternal grandparents, Thomas Jaggie and May Ola Jaggie. For more than 20 years, Franklin had made his home with his brother, Berkley D. Jaggie Sr., who provided constant round-the-clock care for him.
Others left to cherish Franklin’s memory besides Mr. Jaggie are another brother, Ronal Ray Jaggie and wife, Valerie, of Perry County, Pa.; three sisters, Phyllis Oldaker of Belington, Elizabeth Corica of Middletown, Pa., and Carolyn Corica and husband, Frank, of Ohio; and several cousins.
Preceding him in death besides his parents are his biological mother, Zelma Jean Mace Strawder; his sister, Evelyn Ross; three brothers-in-law, Pete Ross, Wayne Oldaker and James Corica; and five cousins, Frank Allen Corica, James Corica, Terry Corica, Debbie Stallman and Kitty Ross.
Franklin was never able to attend school due to his disabilities. He loved water and being in water, but because of his disability, he was limited to his bathtub. He also enjoyed applying aftershave and the feeling of being clean and smelling nice. Another thing he loved was black and white teddy bears. He will be sadly missed by all those who knew him.
Visitation was conducted at the Randolph Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5 until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home chapel today at 11 a.m. The Rev. Ken Shiflett will officiate, and interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens.
