Fred Hinkle

Fred Delana Hinkle, 76, a resident of Beverly, departed this life Thursday evening, Oct. 10, 2013, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center in Elkins. He had been in declining health, although death was unexpected.

He was born Thursday, May 13, 1937, in Beverly, a son of the late Cletus and Sylvia Simmons Hinkle.

At Oakland, Md., he was married to the former Loretta Jean Phillips, who survives. They had celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Also surviving are his children whom he cherished, Douglas Hinkle of Elkins, Diana Davis and husband, Frank, of Philippi, David Hinkle and wife, Cathy, of Elkins, Terry McCauley and husband, Jeff, of Valley Bend, Gary Hinkle and wife, Angela, of Beverly and Denise Heckel and husband, Lloyd, of Beverly. He had a great love for his grandchildren, Jesse, Eric; Nathan, Nicole, Katy, Joshua, Courtney, Derek, Alex and Tanner.

Fred was a graduate of Beverly High School with the class of 1956. He enjoyed hunting and camping which he mostly shared with his son-in-law and close friend, Lloyd Heckel. He was a mill foreman for Elkins Hardwood for more than 40 years before he retired. He and his wife attended Elkins First Church of the Nazarene.
