The family received friends Friday at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home today at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. A. H. Belt and the Rev. William “Bill” Hardy will officiate, and interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens at Gilman.

Betty Lou Myers Thornhill, 84, a resident of Montrose, departed this life Wednesday morning, Nov. 27, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Mountain Hospice. She had been in declining health, and death was attributed to heart failure.
She was born Thursday, Nov. 21, 1929, at Mt. Zion, Tucker County, a daughter of the late Irvin and Mary Helmick Myers.
On Sept. 29, 1951, at Baltimore, Md., she was married to Franklin Earl Thornhill, who preceded her in death Sept. 21, 2011. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Left to cherish her memory are one son, Randy Thornhill and wife, Cathy, of Montrose; two daughters, Kim Close and husband, Jim, of Montrose and Linda Collette and husband, Bob, of Hambleton; one sister, Cathern Hardy of Rosedale, Md.; seven grandchildren, James, Justin, Joe, Ryan, Chris, Angie and Josh; five stepgrandchildren, Richard, Johnetta, Robert, William and Brian; seven great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Lacy, Cheyenne, Jacob, Valerie, Brittany and Kayden; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death are one son, Franklin Keith Thornhill; two brothers, Francis and Cleton Myers; and stepgreat-granddaughter, Abigail.
She attended the schools of Mt. Zion, was a former employee of the Umbrella Factory at Baltimore, Md., was a cook for the Tygart Hotel for many years and retired from Browning’s Elkins Foodland. She enjoyed spending time with her family and going to the Gospel Light Tabernacle, which she had attended for many years.
