Mr. Warren William Shreve Sr., 86, a resident of Route 3, Elkins, passed away Saturday afternoon, Nov. 2, 2013, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 5, 1926, at Mill Creek, a son of the late Burlin Stark Shreve and Pollie Etta Watson Shreve.
On Jan. 2, 1945, at Baltimore, Md., he was married to Betty Lee Louk Shreve, who preceded him in death on March 12, 2001.
He is survived by four sons, Keith Shreve of Harding, Ronald Shreve and Donald Shreve, both of Elkins and Michael Shreve of Media, Pa.; five daughters, Lisa Daniels and husband, Todd, of Beverly, JoAnne Shreve and husband, Kervin Washington, of Elkins, Karen Williams and husband, Bruce, of Belington, Barbara Shreve of Elkins and Patricia Shreve of Norfolk, Va.; 19 grandchildren, Brian, Christena, Laura, Debbie, William, Karina, Sidra, Keisa, Javier, Michael, Tara, Kirstin, Chandra, Kevin R., Miranda, Elvira, Kevin A., Rachel and Christopher; several great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and his special dog, Pixie.
Also preceding him in death was one son, Warren W. Shreve, Jr.; and nine brothers, Thurman, Clyde, Carl, Clarence, Dorsey, Dale, Harold, Ronald and Virgil Shreve.
Mr. Shreve was a Veteran of World War II having served in the United States Army. He was awarded the World War II Victory Ribbon and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon. He worked for many years at the Texaco Bulk Plant at Elkins prior to his retirement. The family would like to thank Mountain Hospice, Terri Lewis, Cindi Arbogast, Terry Yeager, Cindy Currence, Debra White, Matt Fisher and a special thank you to Donald Shreve for his care.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Carolyn Shreve officiating. Interment will follow in the American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery, where presentation of the American Flag will be made by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, Inc., 1600 Crim Avenue, Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Mr. Shreve.
