David Taylor

David Allen “Butch” Taylor, 70, a resident of Valley Bend, passed from this life Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation will be conducted at the Randolph Funeral Home today from 5 until 6 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Marshall Williams will officiate, and then Butch’s request for cremation will be honored.

David Allen “Butch” Taylor, 70, a resident of Valley Bend, passed from this life Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Butch was born Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1943, in Mill Creek, a son of the late Charles Taylor and Thayes Taylor.

On Thursday, May 25, 1989, he was married to the former Evelena M. Wilson, who survives in Valley Bend.

Others left to cherish Butch’s memory are nine children, Cassandra Croston and husband, J.T., of Valley Bend, Alishia Underwood and husband, Mark, of Elkins, Cynthia Huffman of Mill Creek, Loretta Johnson and husband, James, of Tennessee, Jackie Ray Underwood and wife, Ginny, of Dailey, Janet Bloomfield and husband, Bob, of Pokeamoke, Md., Charles Pingley and wife, Niki, of North Carolina, and Robert Pingley and wife, Angel, of Arthurdale; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Butch attended the schools of Randolph County and was the owner-operator of Taylor Contracting for many years. He loved to work on cars and motorcycles. Butch was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed Stephen King novels. Roses were his favorite flower. All of his children agreed that, “He was the best Dad we ever had.” Butch will always be remembered as one who would drop everything and take care of someone else’s problem.
