Gertrude Margaret “Peggy” Poe, 94, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday morning, Dec. 23, 2013, in Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center.
She was born May 19, 1919, in Elkins, a daughter of the late Cleveland W. and Ada Hebb Miller.
On July 23, 1939, at Staunton, Va., she was married to Daniel Edward “Ed” Poe, who preceded her in death Sept. 13, 1993.
Peggy is survived by several nieces and nephews, including Mary Barkley of Elkins, Lenora Gregory of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, Clarence “Bud” Miller of Elkins, Butch Himes of Elkins, Bill O’Dell of Boardman, Ohio, and Patsy Nelson of Beverly
Also preceding her in death were three brothers, Edward, Clarence and Harry Miller; and five sisters, Delphia Shaw, Mary Pingley, Lena O’Dell, Evelyn Himes and Ruth Hartman.
Peggy was a homemaker and a member of Randolph Chapter No. 74, Order of the Eastern Star, the Lady Templers, Isis Count No. 1 Shrine of Wheeling, Tygart Valley Ladies Oriental Shrine Club and Randolph County Senior Center.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley officiating. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens.
