Bessie Rebecca “Robin” Croston, 59, a resident of Philippi, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, at the home of her caregiver, Alta Croston.
Bessie “Robin” was the daughter of the late Harter H. and Francis J. (Miner) Croston.
Surviving are one son, Herbert D. Croston and wife, Ann, of Philippi; two brothers, Harter Croston and wife, Edna, of Philippi and Wendell S. Croston and wife, Sabrina, of Flemington; one sister, Susanne Sikorski and fiance, Jeff Tacy, of Philippi; two granddaughters, Kierra and Samarra Croston; one grandson, DeWayne Croston; and six nieces, three nephews and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Prior to residing with her caregiver, Bessie made her home with Wendell Croston and wife, Sabrina, for several years.
Bessie was preceded in death by her companion, Donald Newman.
She was a homebody and homemaker; she loved to listen to gospel music, watch preachers on television and read her Bible. She loved her family and was loved by all. She was an Apostolic by faith.
Friends will be received at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Friday, Jan. 31, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the service time, with the Rev. Troy McCartney and the Rev. Menelus Mayle officiating. Interment will follow in Welch Cemetery.
