James R. Moore, 76, a resident of Route 1, Elkins, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born March 16, 1937, at Elkins, a son of the late Ralph and Frances Bohon Moore.
On Sept. 13, 1958, at Elkins, he was married to Pattie Jean Stalnaker Moore, who survives.
Also surviving is one son, James R. Moore Jr. of Welch; and five daughters, Vickie Conrad and husband, Roy, of Burnsville, Tammy Jester, Donna Woods and husband, Burley, Rebecca Belt and husband, Ronald, and Barbara O’Dell, all of Elkins. One brother, Bernard Moore of Elkins; and four sisters, Carole McDonald of Junior, Jean Teter, Nancy Morgan and Teresa Blankenship, all of Elkins, also survive. Twenty grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.
Also preceding him in death were one daughter, Debbie Chester; one brother, Don Moore; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, French and Madge Stalnaker; and one son-in-law, James O’Dell.
James had worked as a timber cutter and truck driver for several logging companies and retired from David Burgess Logging. He was an avid outdoorsman and had attended Gospel Light Tabernacle.
Friends may call from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, from Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. A. H. Belt officiating. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens.
