Kathleen (Dayton) Silman, 57, a resident of Chestnut Street in Philippi, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, in Broaddus Hospital.
She was born June 4, 1956, in Groton, Conn., a daughter of Calvin Dayton and Doris Louise (Tate) Dayton, who survives at her home at Baughman Towers.
She was united in marriage to Roger Silman on Nov. 21, 1981, who preceded her in death Jan. 3, 2012.
Surviving her are six children, Romy Daniel Abacan of Germany, Billie Jo Tenney and husband, Allen, of French Creek, Barbara Howard and husband, Gary, of North Carolina, Robert Allen Abacan of California, Roger Lee Silman and wife, Jennifer, of Erie, Pa., and Tiffany Marie Cutlip and husband, Doug, of Belington; three sisters, Barbara Hollingquest of Texas, Elizabeth Ritter and husband, Carl, of Louisiana, and Doris Louise Compton of Morgantown; one brother, Calvin Dayton Jr. and wife, Noreen, of Groton, Conn.; and several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Ms. Silman was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Ann Silman; one brother, William James Dayton; and sister, Sandra May Dicecca
She was a homemaker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 410. She enjoyed playing bingo and
Ms. Silman’s request for cremation will be honored. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St. in Philippi with Pastor Richard Chamber officiating.
