Violet Mae Gribble, 86, of Philippi, went on to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday evening, Jan. 5, 2014, in Mansfield Place, where she had been a resident since July 2006.
She was born Dec. 31, 1927, at Montrose, Tucker County, the daughter of the late Delbert Streets and the late Linnie (Auvil) Marsh.
On March 10, 1951, she was married to Edwin Frank Gribble, who preceded her in death on March 21, 1999.
Surviving are one daughter, Amy Lou Thorn and husband, John, of Fellowsville; two sons, Randall Frank Gribble and wife, Sandra, and Russell Scott Gribble and wife, Suzie, all of Philippi; four grandchildren, Scott Alan DePriest and companion, Jessica Basinger, Randi Renee Gribble, Jeffrey Scott Gribble and companion, Melanie Hanifan, and Logan Garrett Thorn; one brother, Arthur “Shady” Marsh of Nestorville community.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, James Marsh.
Mrs. Gribble was a homemaker. She was a devoted “Mom,” “Grandma” and friend who touched many lives and will be greatly missed. She had attended Souls Harbor Tabernacle.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9, from Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, 385 S. Main St. in Philippi. The Rev. William W. Lanham will officiate, and interment will follow in Marsh Cemetery at Tacy. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 until 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour, Thursday.
