Francis “Frank” Lee Hoover, 72, of Buckhannon, died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born March 17, 1941, in Big Bend, a son of the late Charles and Margaret Posey Hoover.
He is survived by his companion, Brenda Thompson, and grandson, Ronin Copning of Buckhannon; two sons, Charles Lee Hoover of Akron, Ohio, and Francis Kirk Hoover and wife, Andrea Joanne, of Buckhannon; one daughter, Christina Hoover Carr and husband, Terry, of Ludington, Mich.; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Wilford Hoover of Dover, Ohio, Kenneth Hoover of Narasse, Ohio, and Woodrow McClutchen of Deland, Fla.; and two sisters, Charlotte Lewis of Buckhannon and Linda Sue Tinsley of Cooksville, Tenn.
Mr. Hoover was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints. He was a member of Buckhannon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3663. He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service, having served three tours in Korea, one tour in Germany and one tour in Panama.
Friends will be received Monday, Feb. 3, from noon until 2 p.m. at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Bishop Steven Linger officiating. Upshur County Honor Guard will provide military honors.
