Holly E. Shingleton, 60, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, at home with family.

A memorial service celebrating Holly’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. today at Otterbein United Methodist Church, 1100 S. Davis Ave., Elkins, WV 26241.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask contributions be made to the Good Samaritan Society-Barbour County, 216 Nesland Run, Belington, WV 26250, in memory of Mrs. Shingleton. Holly Shingleton

Holly E. Shingleton, 60, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday morning, March 15, 2014, at home with family.

She was born June 8, 1953, in Danbury, Conn., the daughter of Carolyn Kennedy Eglinger and the late Robert R. Eglinger, of Augusta.

Holly is survived by her husband, Michael V. “Mike” Shingleton; her brother, Bruce Eglinger of Augusta; her son, Jeff Blakely Shingleton of Elkins; her daughter, Carie Shingleton, married to Christopher Hellmann and their children, Abigail, Cole and Alexandra of Wayne, Pa.

Holly and her family moved to West Virginia when she was seven years old, where she grew up on Pine Draft Farm in Hampshire County. As a young girl, she was a cheerleader, member of Hampshire High Marching Band and Queen of the Hampshire County Fair. Holly and her family had resided in Rock Cave, Upshur County, where she did tin punch folk art as a business for 12 years and worked at the West Virginia Wesleyan Child Development Center before moving to Elkins in 1997. She was involved with many civic organizations including Southern Upshur County Business Association, Southern Upshur County Fair, Banks District Volunteer Fire Department, 4-H, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Rock Cave Elementary School PTO. Upon moving to Elkins, she became a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church in Elkins and served as the church secretary until her illness. “Thank you for your ray of sunshine that you have given us in your time here. We will always remember you.”
