Irene M. Clark

Irene Marie (Page) Clark, 82, a nearly life-long resident of Buckhannon, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014, in Atlanta, Ga.

She was born April 22, 1931 in Buckhannon to the late Amos and Victoria (Hawkins) Baxa Page.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (“Becky”) and her husband, Jonathan Lorber, of Atlanta; numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Besides her parents, Irene was preceded in death in 1994 by her husband of 24 years, W. Norman Clark; seven brothers, Vorice Baxa, Elam Baxa, Gilbert Baxa, Denzil Baxa, Russell Baxa, Raymond Page and Jimmy Page; and three sisters, Grace Smith, Margaret Alexander and Vernie Gibson.

Irene was a 1949 graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School and a majorette. She worked as a bookkeeper at various businesses around Buckhannon before beginning employment at the Central National Bank as a teller. She worked there part time for many years while raising her daughter and assisting with her husband’s business.

She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, watching game shows and cheering on the Mountaineers in every sport. She was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.

Friends will be received Tuesday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Graveside services will be held at at 2 p.m. at Buckhannon Memorial Park with the Rev. Helen Oates officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor’s choice.
