Lois Gum

Mrs. Lois Ann Chandler Gum, 86, of Atlanta, Ga., and formerly of Buford, Ga., passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip E. Gum; son, Philip “Randy” Gum; parents, James and Carrie Chandler; and brother, Robert Bob Chandler.

She is survived by her children, Kelly Gum, Atlanta and Richard L. and Sandra Gum, Sugar Hill, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Cheri Gum, Malvern, Ohio; two grandchildren, Jordan Gum, Atlanta and Shawne Gum Shores, Loganville, Ga.; two great-grandchildren, Sydney Bush and Andrew Bush; sisters, Peggy Bracken and Sue Chandler, both of Atlanta, and Marcia and Tim Swoger, Roswell, Ga.; brothers, William Chandler, Beverly, John Chandler, Westminster, S.C., Jerry and Olive Chandler, Zanesville, Ohio, and Tom and Mary Chandler, of Masontown; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Gum was born Jan. 10, 1928, in Suncrest. She was a 1945 graduate of Tygart Valley High School in Mill Creek. She retired from Oberdorfer Insurance Company in Dunwoody, Ga. She was a member of Sugar Hill United Methodist Church in Sugar Hill, Ga.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, at 2:30 p.m., from the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Kim Long officiating. Interment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Duluth, Ga.

The family will receive friends from the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
