Robert Pharis

Mr. Robert Nelson Pharis, 82, a resident of the Talbott community near Belington, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 25, 2014, in Mon General Hospital at Morgantown. He had been in his usual health, and death was unexpected.

He was born Sept. 30, 1931, at Trinity community near Belington, a son of the late Jack Andrew and Flossie Elizabeth (Kelley) Pharis.

On May 26, 1957, he was united in marriage to the former Cora Mae Ware, who survives at their home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Dave Pharis and companion, Jessica Jones, of Belington and Rob Pharis and wife, Lois, of Belington; two daughters, Sandy Crawford and husband, Junior, of Belington and Kim Stemple and husband, Michael, of Teter Creek Lake community; three sisters, Betty Poling of Springfield, Ohio, Mildred DeCesare of Providence, R.I., and Maxine Browning of Sun City, Fla.; and three brothers, Harl Pharis of Belington, Richard Pharis of Maryland, and Jackie Pharis and wife, Judy, of Belington. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Melissa Kennedy, Justin Pharis, Hannah Jones, Ariel Jones, Kendra Stemple, James Jones and Tucker Pharis; one great-grandchild, Haley Kennedy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Virgil Pharis, James William “Bill” Pharis and Roy Pharis; and two sisters, Elsie Browning and Mary Jean Poling.

Mr. Pharis attended the schools of Barbour County and was retired as a self-employed logger and timber man. He was an avid farmer and enjoyed cutting wood and tinkering around on his farm.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 5-8 p.m. today and again Friday from 8-11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Downing Gregory officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Cemetery near

Belington.
