Alice M. Gilmore

Mrs. Alice Marie Gilmore, 77, passed away Friday, April 4, 2014. She had been in declining health.

She was born Aug. 17, 1936, in Cassity, a daughter of the late Arden Aulstin and Alta Naomi Finlen Zirkle. She attended the schools of Randolph County.

Marie was married May 25, 1956, to Robert P. “Tom” Gilmore, who preceded her in death Dec. 29, 2013.

She is survived by three daughters and their families, Debbie and John Bensey, Kim and Stephen Gautschi and Bobbie and Herb Eppinger; six grandchildren, Courtney and Megan Bensey, Will and Calley Gautschi and Josh and Hayley Eppinger; one sister, Yvonne Crawford and husband, Gary; one sister-in-law, Charlene Bennett; and eight nieces.

Marie was also preceded in death by two brothers, Aulston “Leon” Zirkle and Arden “Michael” Zirkle; and one sister, Patricia Zirkle. Marie was a lifetime member of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church, Randolph Chapter No. 74 Order of the Eastern Star and remained active with the Creative Homemakers Club.

She was very involved in the lives of her daughters helping with school functions, Sunday School, Girl Scouts and with the Elkins High School Band.

Marie was a beloved wife, cherished mother, adored grandma and a much loved sister. She was truly blessed with life-long friends who loved and cared for her.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A Celebration of Life for Marie will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Bill Calhoun officiating.

Interment will follow in the Maplewood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Hospice, 1600 Crim Ave., Belington, WV 26250 in memory of Marie.
