Mrs. Emmojean (Sturm) Everitt, 86, a resident of Barbour County Good Samaritan Society, Belington, departed this life Sunday, April 20, 2014, in the care facility following a period of declining health.
She was born Nov. 9, 1927, at Montrose, a daughter of the late Excell T. and Stella B. (Harris) Sturm.
She was united in marriage, on July 5, 1945, to Andrew Lee Everitt, who preceded her in death in 1982.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Simon of Belington; three stepchildren, George Everitt and wife, Luella, of Quiet Dell, Andrew P. “Butch” Everitt and wife, Betty Jane, of Kentucky, and Shirley Day of Wexford, Pa.; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, 15 stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Lola Lorraine Quesenberry of Belpre, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by six siblings.
Mrs. Everitt attended the Dartmoor school, was a homemaker and in her former years assisted her husband in managing the Belington Laundry Mat. Emmojean loved listening to country music and watching TV, and she was a Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington Thursday, April 24, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Evangelist James Hypes officiating. Cremation will follow, and interment of her cremains will be in the Fraternal Cemetery near Belington at a later date.
