Betty J. Boyer

Betty Jean Boyer, 82, of Brownton, died Friday evening, May 9, 2014, in Meadowview Manor Health Care Center, Bridgeport, following an extended illness.

She was born April 30, 1932, at Rosemont, Taylor County, a daughter of the late Arthur and Vinila (Reed) Roy.

On Dec. 6, 1947, she was married to the Rev. George Gordon Boyer, who preceded her in death Jan. 18, 2005.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Ann Hall and husband, David, of Salem and Debra Sue Lipscomb and husband, Roy, of Flemington; two sons, George E. “Everett” Boyer of Galloway and Thomas David Boyer and wife, Clara, of Sheffield, Ohio; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Eilene Svergerko, Loretta Hare, Joan Roy and Wanda Lee Russ; and by three brothers, Ronnie, Gerald and Stanley Roy.

Mrs. Boyer was a homemaker and a former housekeeper and store clerk. She was a member of Brownton Pentecostal Church of God where she served as pianist.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, from Brownton Pentecostal Lighthouse, Bear Mountain Road, Brownton. The Rev. Patty Post will officiate, and interment will follow in Flemington IOOF Cemetery. Friends called at the funeral home Monday and may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday.
