Everett A. Brown

Everett “Allen” Brown, 64, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Tuesday morning, May 27, 2014, at his home. He had been in his usual health, and death was unexpected.

He was born Friday, May 19, 1950, at Elkins, a son of the late Robert Kenneth Brown Sr. and Doris Lorraine Woods Brown.

On April 15, 2001, at the Ambassador Baptist Church at Elkins, he was married to the former Mary Edith Robey Armstrong, who survives.

Also surviving are one son, Everett Allen Brown Jr.; one daughter, Crystal Dawn Brown; six brothers, Walter John Brown of Elkins; Eugene Harper Brown and wife, Eugenia, of St. Marys; Charles Ross Brown and wife, Martha, of Spring Grove, Pa.; Terry Lee Brown and wife, Penny, of Harding; Edward Dale Brown and wife, Rosa, of Kerens; and Leslie Martin Brown of Philippi; three sisters, Elizabeth Marie Brown, of Buckhannon; Martha Jane Walters and husband, Gary, and Mary Elaine Walters and husband, Terry; all of Elkins; four grandchildren, Tyler, Addison, Brayden and Tiana; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were two brothers, Robert Kenneth Brown Jr. and Jeffery Alan Brown; and one grandchild.

He was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1968, where he was a member of the wrestling team. He had worked for Wilson Lumber Co. for more than 43 years, retiring as yard superintendent in 2011. He was a Baptist by faith and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and camping.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Final rites will be conducted from the funeral home Friday, May 30, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. R. Michael House will officiate, and interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins.
