Floyd Meadows

Floyd Ditson Meadows, 82, of Third Avenue, Buckhannon, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, in Colonial Place in Elkins, under the care of Mountain Hospice.

He was born January 19, 1932, in Milton, a son of the late Aubrey Ditson and Zena Edmonds Meadows.

He was united in marriage on Feb. 26, 1955, to his loving wife of 59 years, Phyllis Jean Thomas Meadows, who survives.

Also surviving are one brother, Steven A. Meadows of Delaware; several nieces and nephews; and a very special angel adored by Mr. Meadows, Adelaide Jocie McVey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Randy Ditson Meadows; one sister, Patricia Chapman; and his beloved dog and companion of 17 years, Budweiser.

Mr. Meadows was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean War. He attended Marshall University and was retired from the USPFO in 1987 with more than 30 years of service. He was a marksman and member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Meadows was a lover of animals, especially dogs, and was an avid bowler.

The family will receive friends at Heavner and Cutright Funeral Chapel Thursday, May 29, from noon-2 p.m., the funeral hour, with Michael Allman officiating. Interment will follow in Heavner Cemetery.
