Mr. John Wimer Dean, 76, of Lake Wales, Fla., died Thursday, May 8, 2014, at Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center.
He was born on Oct. 27, 1937, in Weston to George W. Sr. and Amy Dean, and moved to Lake Wales nine years ago from Texas. He was a retired drilling superintendent for Exxon Co., USA and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Dean is survived by his wife of 33 years, Sue Dean; son Brad Dean and wife, Vickie, of Longview, Texas; daughter Deborah Mick and husband, Butch, of Eden; stepdaughter Kimberly D. Smith and husband, Ben, of Montrose, Colo.; five grandsons, Leonard Mick and partner, Mark Loewen, of Richmond, Va.; Brandon Dean and wife, Brittney, of Katy, Texas, Hunter Schmidt and Zach Schmidt, both of Montrose, and Stephen “Trey” Raines of Austin, Texas; one granddaughter, Brittany A. Dean of Williston, N.D.; a great-granddaughter Zoe Mick of Richmond; his brother George W. Jr. and wife, Betty, of Concord, Calif.; two nephews Mike Dean and Greg Dean; and a niece, Judy Study, all of California. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Stephen E. Raines in 2012.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the Christian Fellowship Church 25 Norvell Drive No. B, Buckhannon, WV 26201 with Edward McDaniels officiating.
