Kenneth Nazelrod

Kenneth Neal Nazelrod, 65, a resident of Elkins, passed away on June 12, 2014, in Hospice Care Inpatient Center in Elkins following a brief illness.

He was born in Elkins on May 13, 1949. Ken was the son of the late Gene D. and Pauline (Louk) Betler.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Diane Nazelrod Evick Swecker and Sandra Jean Betler.

He is survived by four brothers, David Nazelrod and wife, Donna, of Elkins, Gene Betler Jr.and wife, JoAn, of Fort Gay, H. Kevin Betler and wife Diane, of Helvetia and Scott Betler and wife, Lori, of Elkins. Also surviving are one sister, Sheila Louise Eppard and husband, Johnny, of Strasburg, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Pam (Gardner) and Frank Hughes.

Throughout his life, Mr. Nazelrod worked in the health care industry, was the owner of multiple restaurants, worked as an oil and gas abstractor and worked in hotel hospitality. He recently retired. Ken graduated from Elkins High School in 1967. He served as drum major for the Elkins High School Band. Ken graduated from Strayer University in Manassas, Va. He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He also was a member of the Elkins High School Alumni Association, Mountain State Forest Festival, IOOF and Elkins Chamber of Commerce.

Friends will be received for visitation at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 15, at Orchard Hall near Elkins. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday following visitation with the Rev. Fred Bird officiating.
