Mary L. Edgell

Mrs. Mary Louise (Allen) Edgell, 60, a resident of Iron Drive, Belington, departed this life Sunday, June 22, 2014, at her residence. She had been in her usual health, and death was unexpected.

She was born April 9, 1954, at Philippi, a daughter of the late Freddie Thomas and Martha Elizabeth (Long) Allen.

She was united in married Nov. 24, 1973, to Delbert Lee Edgell, who preceded her in death Aug. 24, 2010.

She is survived by four children, James L. Edgell and companion, Kim Smith, Delberta George, Thomas M. Edgell and wife, Laura, all of Belington, and Delma Hamilton, of Philippi; and four siblings, Doris Workman, of Charleston, Linda Robinson, of Moatsville, William Allen and Stevie Allen, both of Belington. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, Alan Jr., Josh, T.T., T.J., Kylee, Kelly, Raelyn, Emileigh, Misty, Danielle, Christopher and Chad; and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one son, Samuel Edgell; and two infant sisters.

Mrs. Edgell graduated from Philip Barbour High School, and she was a homemaker. Mary enjoyed working with arts and crafts, watching West Virginia University games, and she liked spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Belington Church of the Nazarene.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 6-9 p.m. today and again Wednesday, June 25, from 8-11 a.m., the funeral hour, when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard Chambers officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
