Tina D. Phillips

Tina D. Phillips, 92, a resident of the Elkins Rehabilitation and Care Center, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014, in the center.

She was born April 14, 1922, in Pendleton County, a daughter of the late Jay Golden Day and Glossie Lee Ketterman Day.

On March 28, 1942, she was married to Stanford Phillips, who preceded her in death Feb. 3, 2002. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Surviving is one brother, Golden Hubert “Goldie” Day of Elkins; two sisters, Lorretta Day Hart of Elkins and Lora Ellen Day Hornick of Okeechobee, Fla.; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, John and Sandy Brown of Elkins.

She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Twila Kerns Phillips and Marie Teter.

Mrs. Phillips was a graduate of Parsons High School and worked for many years in the business office of WDNE Radio in Elkins prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club where she was honored as Businesswomen of The Year and the National Secretary Association. She was a member of Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church in Elkins.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, from the funeral home chapel with Evangelist Gary L. Kendall Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Elkins.
