Catherine L. Arbogast

Catherine Louise Scott Arbogast, 90, a native of Coalton, and a resident of Temple Hills, Md., passed away peacefully Monday, July 21, 2014, in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center at Bethesda, Md.

She was born Thursday, April 3, 1924, at Coalton, the youngest of eight children of William and Maggie Scott.

In March of 1946, she married the love of her life, Edward Paul “Ed” Arbogast of Norton, who survives.

Also surviving are six children, William Arbogast and wife, Susanne, Brenda Jans and husband, Brian, Margaret Griffin, Carol Arbogast, John Arbogast and wife, Joy, and Steven Arbogast and wife, Kris; nine grandchildren, Michelle Heck and husband, Jeff, Kelley Wagner and husband, Jason, Erin Kozanecki and husband, Donnie, Christin Flynn, Stephanie Griffin and husband, Ervin, Glenn Griffin, Elizabeth Jans, Nicholas Jans and Daniel Yearick; and six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Morgan and Jackson Heck, Lorelei and Finn Wagner and Liam Kozanecki.

After graduation from Coalton High School in 1942, she worked in an airplane factory in Baltimore, Md., during World War II. As a young wife, she supported her husband’s career in the U.S. Army, while also raising their six children. They settled, in 1968, in Camp Springs, Md., where she was an active member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church.

On Saturday, July 26, Mrs. Arbogast will be moved to Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at Coalton where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs, V.F. will be the Presider and interment will follow in Saint Vincent’s Cemetery at Kingsville.
