Howard Everson

Mr. Howard Hugh Everson, 81, a resident of Audra Road, Belington, departed this life Sunday, July 27, 2014, in VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. He had been in declining health for several years.

He was born June 2, 1933, at Belington, a son of the late Winfred and Sylvia (Suder) Everson.

He was united in marriage, at Belington, on Feb. 17, 1967, to the former Eva Mae Werner, who survives.

He is survived by three children, Clayton Everson and wife, Valerie, of Belington, Valerie Shreve and husband, Edward Jr., of Beverly and Melanie Baldwin and husband, Stephen Sr., of Belington; and one sister, Shirley Wyatt and husband, Boyd Jr., of Belington. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Emily Shreve, Mariah Baldwin, Cameron Everson and Dillon Everson.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Dovie Anderson.

Mr. Everson attended the schools of Barbour County, and he was employed at Alderson Broaddus College as a maintenance supervisor from which he retired in 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War, and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Laurel Mountain Post 410 in Belington. He was a Protestant by faith.

Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday July 31. At 1 p.m., final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jimmie E. Tallman officiating. Interment will follow in Concord Cemetery near Belington where full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 96 of Belington.
