E. Irene J. Mosser
E. Irene Johnson Mosser, 80, a resident of Elkins, passed away Aug. 12, 2014, in Heartland of Clarksburg.
She was born July 5, 1934, at Thomas, the oldest daughter of the late Pearl Y. Dawson Johnson and Lloyd George Johnson.
She was married, at Oakland, Md., to George Kirk Mosser, who preceded her in death in 1980.
She is survived by three daughters, Linda Workman and Michelle K. Mosser, both of Elkins and Robin Boren of Washington. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chad Workman and wife, Mary, of Beverly, Erica Workman of Elkins, Phillip Boren of California, Kayla Workman of Elkins; and her great-grandchildren, Thorton Zabajai, Thaddeus, Chase, Jaden and Jasmin Workman, all of Elkins. Also surviving is a favorite niece and nephew, Tracy Neale Anderson and John Neale, both of South Carolina; and one sister, Geraldine “Gerry” Barkley of Elkins.
Preceding her in death were a son-in-law, Wayman Workman; one sister, Nancy Jane Neale; one brother, William C. “Butch” Johnson; and an infant sister and brother.
Irene and her family moved to Elkins when she was nine months of age. She had worked at Reidboard Brothers at Elkins and the JC Penney Catalog Center at Elkins. Over the past 30 years, she was a “nanny” to many children that she loved and cared for. One of her favorite things was to be able to cook for them. She did volunteer work at the Memorial General Hospital. She was a member of the Elkins Woman’s Club since 1967.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Dewayne Corley officiating. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens.
