Irma Lea Vaughan

Irma Lea Vaughan, 64, of Droop, passed away Friday Aug. 22, 2014, at the Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea. Born Aug. 21, 1950, at Renick, she was a daughter of the late Oral Oliver and Opal Louise Brown Blankenship. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Owen “Doodle” Stacy.

Irma was a nurse for Dr. John Sharp, a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, Pocahontas Community Club and was an avid crafter.

Irma is survived by her husband of 39 years, William Lake Vaughan; daughter, Kelly Schuhmann and husband, Jeff, of Mt. Sidney, Va.; son Aaron Vaughan and wife, Erica, of Maxwelton; two grandchildren, Olivia Faith Schuhmann of Mt. Sidney, Va. and Ella Jo Vaughan of Maxwelton; two brothers, Larry Blankenship and wife, Nancy, and Danny Blankenship and the late Loretta both of Hillsboro, and several nieces and nephews.

In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated.

Due to size limitations, memorial services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro with Pastor Phil Hickman officiating. The family invites everyone to join them for a covered-dish dinner following the service at the Hillsboro Fire Department.
