Virginia Ann “Virgie” Satterfield, 78, a resident of Elkins, passed away at 12:57 p.m. Saturday Aug. 2, 2014, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital at Morgantown.
She was born June 6, 1936, at Alpena, a daughter of the late Virgil Vernon Jones and Lulie Carr Jones. She was formerly married to the late James E. Satterfield. Surviving is one daughter, Pam Keller and husband, Chuck, of Elkins; and two grandchildren, Erin Keller and fiance, Kyle Greenleaf, and Matt Keller, all of Morgantown. Two brothers, James Jones of El Paso, Texas, and Arthur Jones and wife, Diane, of Aurora, Colo.; five nephews; one niece; two great-nephews, six great- nieces; and several cousins including Beulah Carr of Elkins, who was like a sister, also survive.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Fannie Chenoweth; a niece, Jeanie Chenoweth; a brother-in-law, Randall Chenoweth; and a sister-in-law, Polly Jones. Virgie was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1954. She worked as a seamstress most of her life and was employed by Reidbord Brothers Factory for several years. She was a member of the Beverly United Methodist Church and was active in the United Methodist Church Women’s Group, both locally and on the district level.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, at the Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dave Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at the Mountain State Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beverly United Methodist Church, P.O.
