Today, Mrs. Simmons will be moved to American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery at Cravensdale, where graveside services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Pastor William “Bill” Likens will officiate, and interment will follow.

Linda Jean Simmons, 61, a resident of Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins, departed this life Sunday morning, Aug. 31, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family. She had been in declining health, and death was attributed to cancer.
She was born Saturday, Aug. 29, 1953, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Edward William Summerfield and Bernice Lassie Louk.
On Nov. 7, 1976, at Elkins, she was married to Virgil Lee Simmons, who preceded her in death May 20, 2005.
Surviving are one son, Daniel L. Simmons and wife, Shirley, of Morgantown; one daughter, Heather R. Beauvais and husband, Joshua, of Elkins; one brother, Guy Summerfield and wife, Ann, of Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, James, John and Gary Summerfield; and three sisters, Kathleen Woody, Sarah Smith and Carolyn Doerr.
Linda attended the one-room school at Montrose. She was a homemaker, an avid reader and enjoyed flowers and word search puzzles.
