Robert Eugene ‘Bob’ Ramsey
Mr. Robert Eugene “Bob” Ramsey, 85, a resident of Bradshaw Street in Belington, departed this life Wednesday evening, Sept. 28, 2016, in Barbour County Good Samaritan Society, following a period of declining health.
He was born Aug. 27, 1931, at Belington, a son on the late George Washington and Lena Rhoda Coontz Ramsey.
On Aug. 25, 1949, he was united in marriage to the former Mary M. Coontz, who survives in Belington.
He is survived by four daughters, Esther Bise and husband, Bob, of Lafayette, Ind., Pamela Hill and husband, Jeff, of Greer, S.C., Peggy Altmann and husband. Bill. and Bobbie Sue Ramsey. all of Belington; seven grandchildren, Todd Green, Robbie, Jason and Amanda Bise, Brice Altmann and Seth and Zackary Phillips; one great-grandchild, Andrew Bise; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Emma Frank.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Moore; and an infant, Ruby Ramsey.
Bob was a graduate of Belington High School class of 1949. He was previously employed at Badger Coal Co. as a dispatcher from which he retired and was a member of Valley Bend Baptist Church. He was also a member of the United Mine Workers of America, loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Per Bob’s request, his remains will be cremated. Interment of his cremains will be at a later date in Valley Bend Cemetery.
