Harley William Watson

Mr. Harley William Watson Sr., 93, a resident of the Gilman community, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at his home.  He had been in failing health for the past several weeks.

He was born Jan. 5, 1923, in Elkins, a son of the late William Wesley Watson and the late Ethel Reed Watson.

He was married to Elsie Emma Watson, who preceded him in death in 1991.

Surviving are two sons, Harley Watson Jr and Deloris Golden of Maidsville and Leonard Watson and wife, Cindy, of Fredericksburg, Va. Five grandchildren, Donna Thorne and husband, Ron, of Elkins, Tammy Thompson and husband, Tom, of Elkins, Bill Watson of Morgantown, Chris Watson and Salena Zellars of Alexandria, Va., and Joedy Watson and Kelly of Wilmington, Del.; and six great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren  also survive.

Also preceding him in death were three sisters and four brothers.

Mr. Watson was a coal miner and was a molder for Kelly Foundry and Machine at the time of his retirement.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, in American Legion’s Little Arlington Cemetery near Cravensdale. Presentation of the American flag will be made by members of the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program.
