Oreste Leombruno, 91, a resident of the Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at his home.

He was born Dec. 29, 1924, at Coalton, a son of the late Concezio and Agata Petrella Leombruno.

He was twice married, first on Feb. 14, 1953, at Coalton, he was married to Betty Joan Hicks, who preceded him in death June 12, 1982. They had been married for 29 years and had four children. Then on Aug. 9, 2002, at Elkins, he was married to Wilma Farris, who survives.

He is also survived by his children, Michael A. Leombruno and Libby, of Morgantown, Oreste “Spike” Leombruno Jr., and wife, Connie, of Morgantown, James A. Leombruno and wife, Kathy, of Elkins, and Theresa Leombruno Turner and husband, Michael, of Morgantown; and one sister, Libretta Leombruno Howell, of Elkins.

Also surviving are his grandchildren, Nicole Bennetta and husband, Amadeo, Cortney Sisler and husband, Nathan, Anthony Leombruno, Eve Leombruno, Nicholas Leombruno and wife, Janeth, Mikayla Leombruno, Zachary Leombruno, Griffen Leombruno and Ross Turner.

Great-grandchildren, Evalee and Aliyah Sisler and Leila Bennettal and several nieces and nephews also survive.  Also preceding him in death was one brother, Eugene Leombruno; and one sister, Jeanette Leombruno Dumire.

Oreste attended Coalton High School and had worked for 65 years in coal and construction reclamation. He retired at the age of 83 from Polino Contracting, where he worked as a supervisor.

He enjoyed playing the accordion, gardening and keeping a well-groomed lawn. He loved speaking and cooking Italian and enjoyed traveling back to his native town of Bagnaturo, Italy and visiting relatives.

He was a member of Saint Brendan Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He dearly loved his family and his most precious times were cooking his spaghetti sauce for the large family gatherings.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Elkins.

A Wake Service will be recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday with the Very Rev. Mark T. Gallipeau, VF. On Wednesday, Dec. 7, friends may call from 10-10:50 a.m. at the church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Very Rev. Mark T. Gallipeau, VF, as the Celebrant.

Interment will follow in the St. Brendan Cemetery in Elkins.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Brendan Catholic Church, P. O. Box 2205, Elkins, WV 26241, in memory of Mr. Leombruno.
