Sarah Zinn Wallace

Sarah Zinn Wallace, 84, of Buckhannon, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, in Brookdale Senior Living in Harrisonburg, Va.

Mrs. Wallace was born Jan. 21, 1932, in Sistersville and was the daughter of the late Guy and Gail Riggle Zinn.

Sarah graduated from West Virginia University, first in her class with a bachelor’s degree from the School of Pharmacy. Over her career, she was employed at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Thompson’s and Miller’s pharmacies, all of Buckhannon. Sarah was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority, the P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter A, the Hospital Auxiliary at St. Joseph’s Hospital, a member of the Women’s Club and also a faithful supporter of the West Virginia University Mountaineers. She attended First United Methodist Church in Buckhannon and enjoyed golfing, skiing, cooking and reading. She loved a good happy hour at the beach, the mountains, hearing the Pride of West Virginia play “Country Roads,” traveling and spending time with her grandsons, family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert John Wallace; two children, Chris Wallace and wife, Debby, of Memphis Tenn., and Julia Wallace Carr and husband, Ben, of Linville Va.; two sisters, Nancy Peterson and husband, Pete, of Milton and Rachel Craycraft of Ashland, Ky.; cousin, CeCe Wallace of Mill Creek; two grandsons, Truman Wallace and Brody Carr; and faithful companion and special friend, Eunice Pitsenbarger of Briary Branch, Va.

Our family would especially like to thank the staff at Brookdale Senior Living for the loving care and compassion that you brought to our mother’s life day in and day out over the past two and a half years. We would also like to thank RMH Hospice for your kindness and support in our mother’s last days.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at First United Methodist Church, 52 S. Florida St. in Buckhannon. Interment will be private.
