Clyde R. Reed, 72, of Tallmansville, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at his home.

He was born Nov. 25, 1944, in Queens, a son of the late Lennie and Sylvia Sharp Reed.

On Nov. 21, 1969, he married Martha Phillips, who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Letha Bowser and Misti Elmore and husband, Brian, all of Tallmansville; one son, Clyde R Reed Jr., of Tallmansville; three grandsons, Philip Ward, Caleb Elmore and Isaac Elmore, all of Tallmansville; four granddaughters, Courtney Reed, of Fairmont, Madison Reed, of Buckhannon, Mashae Bowser, of Tallmansville, and Savannah Reed, of Buckhannon; three brothers, Jerry Reed and wife, Lorna, Danny Reed and wife, Donna, and Dana Reed and wife, Sharoon, all of Tallmansville; and one sister, Vicki Reed, of Buckhannon.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David Reed; and one sister, Linda Carpenter.

Clyde was a sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a maintenance technician for Corhart.

Friends will be received Wednesday, March 1, 2017, from 6-9 p.m. at The Way of Holiness Church. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Jerry Murrell officiating.

Burial will follow at the Ten Mile Baptist Cemetery in Ten Mile.

The Upshur County Honor Guard will provide military honors at the graveside.
