Diane Louise ‘Purdy’ Lowe

Mrs. Diane Louise “Purdy” Lowe, 69, a resident of the East Bend Mt. Liberty Road near Belington, departed this life Friday morning Feb. 24, 2017, in the comfort of her home. She had been declining in health for the past two years.

She was born on Feb. 25, 1947, at Annapolis, Md., a daughter of the late Vernon Lawrence and Lavnia Miller Purdy.

On Feb. 14, 1970, she was united in marriage to Owen A. Lowe, who survives at their home near Belington.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Owen Allen Lowe and wife, Shelba, of Elkins; one grandson, Sean Lowe, of Glasgow, Scotland; two brothers, Tom Purdy, of Stevensville, Md., and Pete Purdy, of Beverly.

Diane was a graduate of the Annapolis High School in Maryland and was a homemaker and formerly had worked as a secretary at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. She attended the Corley United Methodist Church before her health no longer allowed her to attend. She enjoyed church activities and was an avid quilter and belonged to the Log Cabin Quilters Club of Elkins. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends will be received at the Talbott Funeral Home, 56 N. Brandenburg St. in Belington, on Monday, Feb. 27, 2017, from 6-9 p.m. and again on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with the Pastor James “Oz” Gray and the Pastor Harold Langevin officiating.

Interment will then follow in the Barbour Memorial Cemetery.
