Delores ‘Dee’ Gail Weese Woody

Delores “Dee” Gail Weese Woody, 93, a resident of Elkins, departed this life Monday morning, April 24, 2017, in Elkins Rehabilitation & Care Center at Elkins, under the care of West Virginia Caring.

She was born Friday, July 13, 1923, at Elkins, a daughter of the late John Dayton and Eva M. (Fansler) Weese.

On Dec. 31, 1952, she was married to Gene D. Woody, who preceded her in death Aug. 20, 1982. They were married for 30 years, and they resided in Dayton, Ohio.

She is survived by one sister, Virginia L. Smith of Elkins; and several nephews and nieces, Ray Smith Jr. and wife, Genie, of New Port Richey, Florida, Harold “Rick” Smith and wife, Lori, of Elkins, Eric Smith and wife, Barbara, of Arnold, Maryland, Joyce Hinchman and husband, David, of Newton Falls, Ohio, and Sherri Evick and husband, Jake, of Kannapolis, North Carolina; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

Preceding her in death were three brothers, Robert Glen Weese, John Richard Weese and Clarence Weese; brother-in-law Ray E. Smith; and nephews, James Randall Smith and Richard Weese Jr.

Delores attended the schools of Elkins and was a graduate of Elkins High School with the class of 1943. She worked at W.T. Grant Co. and the Randolph Review.

She was a member of the Randolph Chapter 74, Order of the Eastern Star, Elkins Senior Center and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins Thursday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. with Pastor L. Scott Hamby officiating.

On Friday, Mrs. Woody will be moved to Pineview Cemetery at Orgas, where a graveside service will be conducted at 12:30 p.m.
