Velma Marie Turner
Velma Marie Turner, 91, of Arbovale, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in Pocahontas Continuous Care Center in Marlinton.
She was born at Boyer, June 1, 1925, to the late Howard Granville Ray and Maude Slayton Ray.
She was a homemaker and also a member of Arbovale United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, E. Reed Turner in 1988; siblings, Delbert, Albert, Ted, Frank, Donald Ray, Nora Turner, Mamie Bright, Jeanive Shinaberry, Virgie Wanless, Orpha Clark, Olive Cassell Barnard and Arthena Griffin; and stepdaughter, Gladys “Bunnie” Vance.
Survivors include sons, Jerry A. Turner and wife, Linda, of Marlinton and David R. Turner and wife, Sandra, of Charlottesville, Virginia; granddaughters, Patricia and Elizabeth Turner; stepson-in-law, Bob Vance of North Fork; and stepgrandchildren, Roberta Jean Vance and Susan Vance and husband, Steven Stafford.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with Pastor David Rittenhouse officiating. Burial will follow in Arbovale Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
