Barbara Ann Canfield

Barbara Ann Canfield, 75, departed this life May 22, 2017, in UHC at Bridgeport,.

She was born March 3, 1942, at Elkins, a daughter of the late Harvey (Whitey) Lambert and Virgie Lambert.

On Aug. 30, 1994, she was married to Harry “Shirley” Canfield, who survives in Montrose. They have celebrated 23 happy years together.

Surviving are three sons and two daughters, William Thomas Owens and wife, Sofia, of Hurricane, Paul David Owens of Elkins and James Allen Owens, also of Elkins, Cheryl Ann Payne and husband, Jerry, of Harrisonburg Virginia, and Susan Rene Troike and husband, David, of South Amherst Ohio. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She attended the schools of Randolph County and graduated from Elkins High School. She had worked as a secretary at Davis Memorial Hospital and Wage and Hour Enforcement Officer for the state of West Virginia. She was a homemaker and volunteer of the Leading Creek Fire Department with the ladies auxiliary and the Randolph County Emergency Squad.

Barbara loved spending time with her grandchildren and her animals. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, traveling and watching the Food Network.

At Barbara’s request and because of her love for helping others, her body was donated to WVU Medical Science. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
