Charles G. Wamsley, 73, of Buckhannon, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Aug, 17, 1943, in Buckhannon, a son of the late Ray and Dolly Koon Wamsley.

On Jan. 4, 1964, he married Phyllis Ellen Beam, who preceded him in death Jan. 23, 2009.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Wamsley; a daughter, Shelia (Wamsley) Byrd; seven brothers, Willard, Odel, Garnett, Ronnie, Dennis, Danny and Carrol Wamsley; and a sister, Ruth Gower.

He is survived by a son, Randell Wamsley and wife, Ausencia, of Lexington, North Carolina; two grandsons, Elijah and Ethan Wamsley of Lexington, North Carolina; three brothers, Jim Wamsley of Geneva, Ohio, Douglas Wamsley of Ellamore and Tom Wamsley of Buckhannon; two sisters, Glenna Fletcher of Elkins and Araawana Tenney of Buckhannon; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Wamsley was a tool pusher in the oil fields and was a member of Sand Run Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend to all.

Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 5-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sand Run Baptist Church with the Rev. Donald Butcher and the Rev. Ralph Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Union Church Cemetery in Buckhannon.
