Pastor Delmas “Del” John Johnson, 74, a resident of Jimtown, passed from this life Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at home.

Del was born Friday, May 28, 1943, in Elkins, a son of the late Johnny Johnson and Myrtle McCauley Johnson.

On Sept. 3, 1963, in Baltimore, he married the former Judy Pearl Brake, who survives in Jimtown.

Also left to cherish his memory are two children, Brenda Powis and husband, Walter Jr., of Baltimore, Maryland, and Lucinda “Cindy” Makin and husband, Robert, of Pasadena, Maryland; two grandchildren, Walter Powis III and wife, Megan, and Crystal Bills and husband, Britton, all of Pasadena, Maryland; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Samuel Tetteh; and two siblings, Delmer Johnson and companion, Bessie Scott, and Russell Johnson.

Preceding Del in death besides his parents were four siblings, Ruth and LueVonda McCauley, Garry and Velva Nelson.

Del had been employed as a manager at Lauer’s Super Thrift. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including, gardening, riding four wheelers and hunting squirrels for Judy to cook. Del was a great story teller and loved spending time with his family and going out to eat. He was an avid reader and thoroughly enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. Del was Pentecostal by faith. He built Full Bible Church in Elkins, moved to Baltimore for several years and then returned to serve as pastor from 2003 to the present.

Visitation will be held at the Randolph Funeral Home Saturday from 2-3 p.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Sharon Brown will officiate. Del’s request for cremation will then be honored.
